The NBA recently announced it will be allowing certain teams to resume practice, in line with the social distancing measures implemented in their respective cities and/or states. However, as an added safety measure, the league has recently sent out a memo advising teams disallow personnel that have high temperatures to enter their facilities.

This is via NBA insider Shams Charania:

This is, of course, in line with the impending threat of the Corona virus, with all teams required to take extra precautions in order to help battle the spread of the dreaded disease. A fever is one of the tell-tale symptoms of the virus, and in order to ensure the safety of everyone else, individuals who manifest such symptoms are required to self-quarantine.

The NBA’s recent decision to re-open practice facilities have been met with mixed reviews. For some, it is a welcome development with regards to the resumption of the current season. It is a good first step towards this ultimate goal.

However, there are also some who believe that this poses an unfair advantage for teams that reside in cities with stricter social distancing measures still in place. Said teams won’t be able to practice and will still be forced to stay at home. Even some team owners have raised their own concerns and their hesitation towards the NBA’s recent decision, citing the health and safety of their players, coaching staff, and employees.

This is indeed a polarizing issue, but it is clear that the NBA will pursue this initiative as it looks to somehow get the 2019-20 campaign back on track.
