On Thursday afternoon, the NBA officially announced that Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James and New Orleans Pelicans big man Anthony Davis have earned Conference Player of the Month honors for their outstanding play through the month of February. For James, it marks the seventh consecutive February he's been given the title (2012-2018).

LeBron James has won the Player of the Month honors 37 times over the course of his illustrious, 15-year NBA career, including three this season (October, November, and now February).

James, now 33 years of age and showing no signs of regression, averaged a triple-double through the month of February, notching 27.0 points, 10.5 rebounds, and 10.5 assists in 37.3 minutes per game. It was the first time James has averaged a triple-double in an NBA calendar month, believe it or not. In doing so, he joined just three other players in NBA history who have averaged at least 25 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in a 10-game month (Oscar Robertson-7 times, Russell Westbrook-4 times, Wilt Chamberlain-1 time).

“The 6-8 forward was the only Eastern Conference player to shoot at least .540 from the field and .400 from beyond the arc while averaging at least 20.0 points this past month. James scored at least 20 points eight times and 30 points or more five times, while also tallying at least 20 points, eight rebounds and eight assists in eight of Cleveland’s 10 games last month. He had at least 10 rebounds six times and 10 or more assists five times. James’ 105 total assists were the highest in the East.”

James passed several milestones in the month of February. He set a new career-high in assists in Cleveland’s 123-107 win over the Atlanta Hawks on Feb. 9. On Feb. 22, James became just the seventh player in NBA history to make 11,000 career field goals. And more recently (Feb. 27), the Kid from Akron became the first and only player to record 30,000 points, 8,000 rebounds, and 8,000 assists.

Davis, 24, led the Pelicans on a seven-game winning streak in February en route to averages of 35 points, 13 rebounds, 2.5 steals, and 2.2 blocks per game. “The Brow,” as Davis is known, joined Moses Malone as the only two players in the last 40 seasons to average 35 points and 10 rebounds for an entire month (at least 10 games). This marks the first time in Davis' career that he's earned Player of the Month honors. The last Pelican to be given the title was Chris Paul in 2010.

Join us in congratulating James and Davis for their outstanding achievement.
