Los Angeles Lakers icon and NBA legend Magic Johnson took to Twitter to congratulate Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who won his first championship on Sunday's Super Bowl LIV.

All eyes were glued at the the quarterback and his Chiefs, who overcame a 10-point third quarter deficit against the San Francisco 49ers and scored 21 unanswered points to secure their first title in 50 years.

The NBA Hall-of-Famer praised Mahomes' leadership and said that him being named MVP was also well-deserved.

Magic Johnson alluded to the 24-year-old's nickname, “Showtime,” which was what he was supposedly called growing up. The five-time NBA champion is known for leading the Los Angeles Lakers' era that became popular for its exciting, up-tempo style of basketball aptly dubbed Showtime for its entertaining quality.

The era contributed to Magic's illustrious career, which included three NBA Finals MVPs, three regular-season MVPs, 12 NBA All-star selections and a frequent nod as one of basketball's all-time greats.

On the other hand, the Chiefs' young passer Patrick Mahomes is solidifying his reputation as one of the best players in the NFL after making history for being the youngest player in the league to ever win the title and an MVP.

His spectacular performance during the final 10 minutes of the championship game at the Hard Rock Stadium is one Kansas City and NFL fans will never forget soon. Mahomes' incredible clutch plays, especially his pass to Damien Williams, solidified his name in the city that had been in championship drought for five decades.

It was a night of firsts for many of the team's members as well, including Andy Reid who nabbed his first NFL title as head coach.
