Contrary to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver's claims, Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban believes that Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James' playoff absence doesn't impact the ratings. For Cuban, the ratings have risen due to the game times.

Per Dave McMenamin of ESPN, Cuban believes that James' absence in the postseason (the first time since 2006) hasn't affected the ratings at all. For him, the adjusting of game times has attracted more viewers — particularly those in the East Coast.

“In terms of ratings and stuff like that, we're in a different universe now,” he said. “I don't think it impacts the ratings at all.”

“What is the best start time for ratings? Because we don't have to worry about people showing up for the games — whatever time we make it, they're going to show up,” he said.

Do you agree with Cuban? After all, he's is a businessman and probably knows the intricacies of the NBA as a business. Besides, not everyone is a James or Lakers fan. Some don't even care about the team at all. Either way, it's a good point raised by Cuban. The adjusting of game times has made the games within reach for those in the East.

But perhaps James eight straight NBA Finals from 2010 to 2018 shouldn't be discounted. Though he snagged just three rings along the way, it included the 3-1 deficit comeback which is a pretty great milestone in itself. Along the way, he has attracted a legion of basketball fans to watch and see the beautiful game of basketball.
