Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban thinks 10-time NBA All-Star Carmelo Anthony should be on the Team USA roster.

Cuban says he had to speak up for Anthony and thinks Melo should “absolutely” be on the Team USA 12-man roster which will compete at the FIBA World Cup in China.

Team USA managing director Jerry Colangelo said he didn't want to add Carmelo Anthony to the roster because he thought it would cause a distraction. Colangelo thinks Anthony would have been too focused on trying to impress NBA general managers so he can get back in the league.

Carmelo Anthony hasn’t played in an NBA game since Nov. 8, 2018 against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The future Hall of Famer and one of the greatest Olympians of all-time played in just 10 games with the Houston Rockets last season before the franchise exiled him.

The Rockets traded Anthony to the Chicago Bulls on Jan. 22. The Bulls then waived Anthony, who has been an unrestricted free agent since then.

The demise of Anthony has been really sad to watch. This is one of the greatest scorers in NBA history and he can't seem to find a landing spot. Heck, not even Team USA wants Melo at this juncture.

It's good, though, to see Mark Cuban standing up for Anthony. Melo has been getting bashed left and right over the past couple of seasons, so someone sticking up for him is a nice change of tone.
