The city of Seattle is ready for an NBA franchise, and if the constant talk surrounding the town through the last few years wasn't enough, now there is another step to prove it.

Seattle Mayor Ed Murray and the Oak View Group have agreed to build a $600 million privately financed arena at Seattle Center, expected to begin construction in 2018 and complete it by 2020, according to Chris Daniels of NBC KING5.

This motion is expected to be presented at the Seattle City Council on Tuesday.

Oak View Group has committed $40 million for transportation around Seattle Center and another $20 million for a community fund in addition to the cost of the arena, a price which could push the project past $660 million in private financing. Half of this $20 million community fund is expected to go toward YouthCare and address youth homelessness.

With the NBA looking to expand, Seattle could be one of the first cities looking to get back its NBA team, with others like San Diego still seeking a sports team after losing the San Diego Chargers to L.A.

It's been nine years since the Seattle Supersonics were turned into the Oklahoma City Thunder and relocated, but it might take another three years for Seattle fans to see a team in action, with construction expected to be finished by 2020.
