Metta World Peace’s crystal ball probably needs some repair work.

In a chin-scratching post on Twitter, the former NBA player predicted the New York Knicks and the Indiana Pacers will meet in the NBA Eastern Conference Finals “this year.”

Apart from a seemingly defective crystal ball, Metta World Peace does also have a wrong grasp of the NBA’s schedule. The next Eastern Conference Finals series won’t be played until next year, while it was the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics who duked it out in the 2018 version of the series, with LeBron James and company winning it.

Maybe World Peace sent this tweet out after hopping in a time machine and going back to 1994 – the same year that the Knicks and the Pacers first met in the conference finals. Both teams would meet two more times in the same playoffs series a couple more times in 1999 and 2000, so World Peace also probably is just being a little bit nostalgic here.

In any case, it’s hard to lay money on the Knicks and/or Pacers to win the East next season. The Knicks are currently priced with a very long +20,000 odds to be the last team standing in the conference, while the Pacers have a shorter price of +10,000. Either way, it’s going to take something short of a miracle for Metta World Peace’s prediction to come true.
