An old video clip of the great Michael Jordan taking on a bunch of young players more than a decade ago has recently been making its rounds on social media. Los Angeles Lakers veteran swingman Jared Dudley came across the clip, and decided to share his own version of the story.

According to Dudley, not only did he take part in this epic tournament, but more importantly, the opportunity he had to team up with Jordan himself had a tremendous impact on Dudley's draft night results:

The video features Jordan taking on the likes of high school standout O.J. Mayo, who perhaps made the wrong decision in engaging Jordan in some trash talk. We all know how legendary MJ is when it comes to talking smack, and he surely taught Mayo a lesson on that evening. Dudley was just glad to have been a firsthand witness to all this.

For his part, though, Dudley apparently made quite an impression on Jordan. This led to MJ's Charlotte Bobcats selecting Dudley as the 22nd overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft — at least according to Dudley. Unfortunately for him, he barely made an impact during his brief time in Charlotte, with the team deciding to ship him off midway through his sophomore year.

Jared Dudley has since played for six other NBA teams in the span of 12 years. Last summer, he signed with the Lakers on a one-year minimum deal. On the season, the 34-year-old is averaging just 7.8 minutes off the bench, producing just 1.5 points and 1.1 rebounds per contest.
