Retired player Mirza Teletovic says his stint in the NBA is a good experience, but he admitted that the league is “boring” compared to European competition.

Teletovic played six seasons in the NBA after an illustrious campaign in Europe. Before moving to the biggest basketball stage in 2012, the Bosnian basketball icon played for Baskonia in the EuroLeague and Spanish ACB. Comparing the two chapters of his career, Teletovic said that his stint in Europe was much better than his NBA journey.

“When I went to the NBA, my opinion is that it was very boring,” Teletovic said on Radio Vitoria via EuroHoops. “If you weren’t playing for Golden State or the Cleveland Cavaliers, which are competing to be champions… why should I be there? In Vitoria (with Baskonia) you were always competing for something. The Supercopa, the Copa Del Rey, to enter the EuroLeague Final Four. In the United States… what?”

Teletovic added that he did enjoy playing against the best in the world, but he said that he “had a better feeling” when he played in the EuroLeague and in Spain.

The 33-year-old, who had stints with the Brooklyn Nets, Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns, was forced to retire early due to health issues. He is now currently serving as the president of the Bosnian basketball Federation.
