The NBA has informed all 30 teams of its new coronavirus policy, which is effective immediately.

The NBA suspended the season on Wednesday after Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus.

Jazz All-Star shooting guard Donovan Mitchell has the virus as well. Players on the Jazz have privately said Gobert had been careless in the locker room touching other players and their belongings. Gobert was shown on video jokingly touching the microphones of reporters several days ago.

The NBA will use the hiatus to determine the next steps for moving forward in regard to the coronavirus outbreak. Most league insiders expect the NBA to be closed for at least the next 30 days.

Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban has expressed an expectation that games could continue as late as August. The extension of the season into August would have an impact on the basketball calendar, including the 2020 NBA draft, beginning of free agency, Summer League, the Olympics and the start of next season.
