The NBA has been making some changes to their health and safety protocols, and the league decided to make more changes on Monday. Vaccinated NBA players and coaches can now clear quarantine after six days if COVID-19 testing shows that they are no longer at risk to be infectious.

The NBA and National Basketball Players Association agreed to the changes on Monday, and this comes in conjunction with the CDC announcing shortening of isolation restrictions from 10 days to five days. This will have players out of the protocol possibly four days shorter than the previous 10 days to test out of quarantine. Players are still allowed to test out of quarantine, which will stay the same. Players just have to have two negative tests within 24 hours apart from each other.

This is good news for the NBA because now they are going to finally be able to get out of their protocols quicker than they usually were, which is good news if they are negative and/or asymptomatic. These are some of the healthiest people in the world, so if they have no risk of spreading the virus any longer or of hurting themselves, there is no reason why they should continuously be in the protocols for longer than they need to be. Obviously, if they are not feeling great and can still spread the virus, it would make sense that they still are in the protocols.

There is still a good chance that the NBA will continue to make other moves regarding their protocols, so expect some more updates sometime soon.
