The NBPA Foundation has matched $400,000 in grants from Kevin Durant, James Harden, Kevin Love and numerous other NBA players who have donated to promote positive social change over the last two months, according to an official release.

The aforementioned players — among others — have all pitched in money to help families throughout the coronavirus pandemic and to assist families in respective areas.

For example, Harden donated funds to purchase groceries and basic supplies for low-income families impacted by the coronavirus pandemic in the greater Houston area, where Harden plays basketball for the Rockets.

Durant did something similar, partnering with GiveDirectly to provide one-time cash disbursements for low-income families affected by the coronavirus pandemic in Seat Pleasant, Maryland.

Love has partnered with UCLA (where he attended college) in support of reducing the stigma associated with anxiety and depression during the coronavirus pandemic.

Other NBA players — current and former — who have donated to similar causes include Steve Nash, Brook and Robin Lopez, JJ Redick, Kyle Kuzma and Brandon Ingram. The NBPA has partnered with 24 players overall.

COVID-19 first arrived in the United States in January, but it became a full-blown pandemic in March when cases spiked. As a result, the NBA suspended its 2019-20 campaign in mid-March. The suspension occurred after Utah Jazz big man Rudy Gobert tested positive.

The league has been working tirelessly on a return, and last month, the NBA officially announced that it would be resuming its season in a somewhat limited capacity (only 22 of the 30 NBA teams will participate) at Disney World in Orlando.
