The NBA has postponed Sunday's Summer League game between the Indiana Pacers and Washington Wizards in Las Vegas due to health and safety protocols. The Wizards don't have enough players to field a team because of contact tracing.

There were initially eight games on the Summer League docket for Sunday, but now there are only seven. This isn't the best way to start things off in Vegas after the last two NBA seasons were marred by COVID-19 issues.

The Wizards dealt with a number of COVID problems last season, which hampered their ability to compete. They were ultimately able to overcome them to reach the play-in tournament and then the playoffs thanks to a hot second half of the season. However, they lost to the Philadelphia 76ers in the first round and then revamped their roster in a big way with a Russell Westbrook trade to the Los Angeles Lakers, which saw them bring in Spencer Dinwiddie in the process.

Furthermore, Bradley Beal just missed playing in the Tokyo Olympics because of COVID-19.

Washington drafted Corey Kispert in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft, with Isaiah Todd going 31st overall. Both players are on the Wizards' Summer League squad.

The Pacers had a disappointing season and wound up firing Nate Bjorkgren just one year after he replaced Nate McMillan. Rick Carlisle replaced Bjorkgren as head coach and is expecting to get this team back into legitimate playoff contention.

Indiana drafted Chris Duarte with the No. 13 pick in the 2021 NBA Draft. The Pacers' Summer League roster also features Goga Bitadze and Oshae Brissett, two players who saw a decent amount of playing time in 2020-21.
