NBA players plan to kneel during the National Anthem once the seeding games start on July 30 at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, per Brad Turner of the Los Angeles Times.

The NBA currently requires players to stand for the National Anthem, so it will be interesting to see how commissioner Adam Silver and the other higher-ups in the league react to this.

In 2016, Colin Kaepernick became the first professional athlete in America to kneel during the National Anthem. The former San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback was protesting police brutality and systemic racism against African Americans.

Some of the biggest stars in the NBA such as LeBron James, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry and Chris Paul have stood behind Kaepernick and his stance on the National Anthem. The tragic murders of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor at the hands of policemen have brought racial injustices back to the forefront.

Numerous NBA players have been responding with “justice for Breonna Taylor” during their media interviews with reporters down in Orlando, Florida.

For the seeding games, the Brooklyn Nets, Orlando Magic and Washington Wizards will battle it out for the final two playoff spots in the Eastern Conference, while the Memphis Grizzlies, New Orleans Pelicans, Portland Trail Blazers, San Antonio Spurs, Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings will jostle for the eighth seed out West.
