The Michigan State Spartans came up with a huge win against the Duke Blue Devils on Tuesday, and there were more than a few folks who were tuned in to the high-octane matchup. Former Golden State Warriors teammates Quinn Cook and Draymond Green were just a couple of the thousands who were invested in the contest, and unsurprisingly, there was a bit of back-and-forth between them after the game.

Cook, who played four years with Duke before making the jump to the NBA, came out with a preemptive strike towards Green, who himself is a Michigan State alum. Cook took to his IG Stories to post this hilarious message addressed to his former teammate:

Quinn Cook

With the Spartans emerging with a 75-69 win, Cook knew that some smack talking was headed over in his direction. True enough, Green quickly caught wind of Cook's comments and responded with a jab of his own, also via his IG Stories:

Draymond Green

Cook's precautionary first strike appears to have worked, with Green deciding to take it easy on him. The Dubs forward was probably in a really good mood and decided not to rub salt into the wounds of Cook. Nonetheless, Green is clearly celebrating Michigan State's victory.

Perhaps the fact that Cook remains without a team at the moment factored in on Green's light-handed approach. Cook was recently released by the Los Angeles Lakers, and is currently a free agent.

As part of L.A.'s championship side last season, Quinn Cook averaged 5.1 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 11.5 minutes per contest.
