Before the NBA season got suspended due to COVID-19, San Antonio Spurs veteran small forward Rudy Gay had the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers as his two title favorites.

The Bucks just so happen to have the best record in the NBA again, while the Lakers are atop the Western Conference standings. The two teams split their season series, with both winning at home.

“I don’t know, man. That’s the thing about the season, man, everybody could be beat,” Rudy Gay told Wosny Lambre of The Athletic. “But I think as far as … because the most consistent (answer), Bucks or the Lakers. So those two teams. Bucks, last year, they didn’t do what they thought they would. And I know it takes a couple of years. You’re a really good team, it takes a couple years for you to actually get to the Finals, and I thought it might have been their year.”

The Bucks had an impressive record of 53-12 prior to the NBA season getting suspended. The Lakers, meanwhile, were at 49-14.

If the NBA season does resume, fans are hoping the Bucks and Lakers meet in the NBA Finals. A seven-game series featuring Giannis Antetokounmpo, LeBron James and Anthony Davis would be exactly what fans would need following a long hiatus.

Hopefully, the NBA is able to start up again in the summer, in July or August possibly. Both the Bucks and Lakers are getting some quality rest right now. The 2020 playoffs could be really special if it is played since players will be rested and hungry to play after such a long layoff.
