Almost every night in the NBA, there is some new weird or obscure stat that is broken, and that was the case on Wednesday night courtesy of the Philadelphia 76ers and Washington Wizards.

According to the ESPN Stats and Info Twitter account:

The 76ers and Wizards both won last night after trailing by 20-plus points at halftime, just the second time in the shot-clock era (since 1954-55) that two teams have overcome 20-point halftime deficits on the same day.

For the Sixers, they took on the Miami Heat and were down 62-39 at halftime. In the third quarter, the Sixers came out of the locker room fired up, as they put up 34 points while holding the Heat to only 19 points and that put them well on their way to the victory.

The Sixers used a balanced attack all across the floor, but Ben Simmons was the catalyst of it. He finished the game with 18 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 assists.

For the Wizards, they took on the New York Knicks, and they had no energy on the defensive end early. They were down 72-51 at halftime and it looked like they would head into the All-Star break with a loss.

They too, though, were able to use a big third quarter, outscoring the Knicks 39-15, and that helped lead them to a five-point victory. Bradley Beal led all scorers for the Wizards putting up 36 points and really helping take any wind out of the sails for the Knicks.

These are both teams trying to make the playoffs, so it was huge that they could win these games, and not go into the playoff break with their heads slumped.
