Popular betting site Oddshark has released the betting odds for the MVP winner of the 2018-19 NBA season. The site listed the odds for 18 players in the league, and the players at the top are what most viewers predicted.

Los Angeles Lakers superstar forward LeBron James tops the list at a +400, followed closely by New Orleans Pelicans forward Anthony Davis at a +450.

Rounding out the Top 5 are reigning MVP James Harden, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Kawhi Leonard, in that order.

All five of these players have a legitimate shot at winning the award, and all are in fairly different situations.

James is tasked with leading an interesting mix of young players and veterans on one-year contracts to at least contend in a loaded Western Conference where there are 11 playoff quality teams vying for eight spots. If he wants any shot at the award, the Lakers would most likely have to place somewhere in the vicinity of the fifth seed.

Davis and Antetokounmpo are both the only true stars on their respective teams.  This, combined with their immense talent, versatility, and ability to stuff a box score, make them true contenders for the award. However, like James' situation with the Lakers, their teams would have to make a significant improvement from their performances last year to garner enough votes.

Harden has a strong team to work with, and the Rockets are looking to once again finish with the best record in the league, this time with Carmelo Anthony in tow. If Harden puts up the stats that he did last year once again, he would have a shot at becoming an MVP in back-to-back years, only two years after Stephen Curry accomplished the feat.

Leonard, like James, has switched teams this offseason. However, Leonard's team had the best record in the East last year and has a solid, established roster to work with. The Raptors look to get all they can out of Leonard this year, as there is no guarantee he returns to Toronto next season and rumors swirl of a departure to Los Angeles. A fully healthy Leonard will give any of the names listed above a run for their money when it comes to MVP consideration.

All eyes will be on these five stars as soon as the regular season begins in two months.
