After James Harden reportedly turned down a whopping $103 million extension from the Houston Rockets, a slew of NBA players took to Twitter to express their disbelief.

ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski broke the news that the Rockets offered Harden the maximum allowable extension of some $50 million per year in the next two seasons. Portland Trail Blazers guard CJ McCollum had to consult Twitter since he couldn't believe what he just read.

An NBA fan asked McCollum if he would accept $50 million a year but then he would play ball in Siberia. McCollum hinted that he would sign the deal.

Josh Hart of the New Orleans Pelicans also couldn't believe that Harden declined such a hefty NBA deal.

Brooklyn Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie reacted, too. But several fans reminded Dinwiddie that he's actually one of the pieces that might be traded away if the Nets pursue Harden.

The Rockets' lucrative offer to James Harden simply signifies that they want to keep him long-term and continue to build an NBA championship team around him. However, per Wojnarowski's report, Harden believes that “his window to chase championships in Houston has ended.”

To recall, Harden signed with the Rockets in 2012. And in eight seasons in Houston, Harden guided the team to eight playoff appearances. In 2018, they were just one win away from making it to the NBA Finals.

Whether or not Harden changes his mind is a matter of wait-and-see. Reports reveal that the Rockets have no intention to trade their franchise player away. If so, Houston needs to make some key moves this offseason to make Harden stay.
