With the FIBA World Cup just eight months away, participating teams are now ramping up their preparations for one of the most prestigious international basketball tournaments in the sport. As part of both teams' final preparations for China 2019, Spanish Federation President Jorge Garbagos has recently confirmed that Spain and Team USA will be facing off in a friendly match a few weeks before the tournament is slated to commence in August of next year.

The contest is scheduled to take place on Aug. 16 and will be played on Team USA's home soil in Los Angeles. These are currently the top two teams in FIBA's standings, so we should expect a highly competitive tuneup game.

The Gasol brothers (Pau and Marc) will likely lead the charge for the Spanish national side, with other NBA stars including Utah Jazz point guard Ricky Rubio, the Hernangomez brothers (Juancho and Willy), and New Orleans Pelicans power forward Nikola Mirotic all in the mix.

Team USA recently announced their 35-player pool from which the members of the World Cup squad shall be selected from. It consists of a multitude of NBA superstars, including several members of the 2014 World Cup-winning side such as Stephen Curry, Anothony Davis, and Kyrie Irving.

There are also a number of players hoping to make their first ever appearance for Team USA. The list includes the likes of Devin Booker, CJ McCollum, Khris Middleton, and Myles Turner.
