According to Turner Sports PR, Saturday night of the NBA All-Star weekend had quite a high rating, thanks to the ultra-competitive (yet controversial) dunk contest.

The Saturday night ratings reached its highest point since 2017.

As the tweet shows, according to Nielsen Fast Nationals, the ratings of All-Star Saturday Night peaked at 6.4 between 10:15 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. Video views at the accounts @NBAonTNT and @NBATV on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter were also up 25 percent.

The ratings have progressively gone down for All-Star weekend in recent years, with it dipping to as low as 3.8 at last year’s All-Star weekend in Charlotte.

While the ratings for NBA games this season are down, brands such as Taco Bell and Mountain Dew see the weekend as an opportunity for branding, sponsoring events and even naming part of the contests after themselves. This proves that even when the ratings are down, big brands are still interested in associating themselves with the NBA All Star game.

The final event of All-Star Weekend is set to take place Sunday, as TNT is broadcasting the All-Star Game. Team LeBron is pitted against Team Giannis in what many expect to be a thrilling affair that will cap off what has been a successful celebration so far.
