Trevor Booker is taking his talents to the Far East. According to Alex Kennedy of HoopsHype, Booker is close to agreeing and signing a contract to play with the Shanxi Brave Dragons, the same team NBA free agent guard Brandon Jennings used to play for during his time in China.

Booker began last season with the Brooklyn Nets but was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in December for Jahlil Okafor, Nik Stauskas, and a future draft pick. The Sixers were just his second stop in the NBA that season, as he was waived by Philly back in February, which paved the way for the Indiana Pacers to sign him for the rest of the 2017-18 campaign. Booker made 68 appearances last season (with just one start) and averaged 6.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per contest.

Booker is a scrappy and gritty forward, who makes a living on the court largely by battling for rebounds and providing muscle down low on both ends of the floor. He’s merely a peripheral option on offense, but he’s constantly tracking offensive rebounds to convert into second-chance points.

Trevor Booker is also the third player from last year’s Pacers roster to pack his bags for China. Guard Joe Young and veteran big man Al Jefferson have earlier agreed to play for separate Chinese squads.
