USA Basketball reportedly has interest in adding Zion Williamson to their 12-man roster for the 2019 FIBA World Cup which takes place in China, according to Marc Stein of the New York Times.

Zion Williamson and Duke lost to Michigan State in the Elite Eight on Sunday. Zion is widely expected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.

The FIBA World Cup Qualifying games are being used to qualify 31 of the 32 nations that will compete in the 2019 FIBA World Cup, per USAB.com. USA Basketball won the 2014 FIBA World Cup. Kyrie Irving was named the MVP.

Williamson just finished what was one of the greatest freshmen seasons in NCAA history. He became the first freshman to score 100-plus points in an NCAA Tournament since Derrick Rose did it back in 2008 with Memphis.

The 12-member 2019 USA World Cup team will be comprised of players from the 2018-20 USA National Team. The roster pool is made up of the following players:

LeBron James has already announced he won't play.
