The Philadelphia 76ers start a four game west coast road trip as they travel to the bay to take on the Golden State Warriors. This is a tale of two stories as the red hot 76ers will face off against an ice cold Warrior bunch. This is the first meeting between these two teams in 2021 and it's unfortunate that we don't get to see either at full strength. With both Curry brothers and MVP candidate Joel Embiid still out of action, this will be a battle of depth. It’s time to continue our NBA odds series and make a 76ers-Warriors prediction and pick.

Here’s how sportsbooks have set the opening 76ers-Warriors odds.

Why The 76ers Could Cover The Spread

The Philadelphia 76ers have been playing phenomenal basketball of late, going 6-1 since the All Star break. They begin a four game road trip in Golden State, followed by both teams at the Staples Center and a trip to Denver to round it out. Philly has gone 7-1-1 ATS in their last nine games and have many players stepping up since Embiid went down eleven days ago. Even without Ben Simmons (16 ppg, 8 rpg, 7.7 apg) of late, the 76ers have continued to win games. They are 4-1 SU and 3-1-1 ATS in their last five, thanks in large part to the improved play of Tobias Harris and Dwight Howard. Tobias is averaging 24.5 points per game in his last five and Dwight's averaging a double-double since the break.

The most interesting story for Philly lately has been the play of Shake Milton. Shake has stepped into Seth Curry's role quite well and continues to shoot the lights out. Doc Rivers has had an impact on the whole team as the bench has played well all season long. Ben Simmons is in the lineup tonight and will look to start the road trip on a high note. Golden State's struggles of late only help the 76ers case. The Warriors are 3-6 in their last nine and will be forced to play without Steph for the third straight game.

Why The Warriors Could Cover The Spread

Golden State is not playing well of late. Their struggles have been tough to watch and their health has not helped. Steph is out, Draymond is banged up, and Wiseman has been out because of health and safety protocols. Good news for Golden State is that James Wiseman is expected to return to action tonight. The Warriors will need their rookie big man to dominate. Wiseman has played well recently and seems to be getting comfortable in the NBA. Golden State plays better basketball at the Chase Center and will hope for a big performance from their rising star, Jordan Poole.

Jordan Poole has been lights out for the Warriors since coming up from the G-League. Poole has been averaging over twenty points per game this month on 54.5% shooting from the field 44.2% from beyond the arc. He has been a much needed boost for the Warriors and hopes to will his way to another great performance against the 76ers. He is a catalyst that doesn't have much support around him, though. Kelly Oubre has been very inefficient all season long and almost looks like a liability on the court. If the Warriors want to cover, they will need a huge game from former number one pick Andrew Wiggins (17.7 ppg) on Tuesday night.

Final 76ers-Warriors Prediction & Pick

There is a clear disparity in health and talent in the matchup tonight. The 76ers will be the better team on the court and will be hungry to take care of business with a tougher schedule ahead. No Steph Curry is a huge blow for Steve Kerr's group and will be the ultimate difference in tonight's game. Philly has been a cover machine since the break and won't slow down in this affair. I'm honestly shocked that these two are only separated by 3.5 points and I'm confidently backing Philadelphia. Look for them to coast to a comfortable victory.
