These two teams have had somewhat similar starts to the season. The Chicago Bulls have been in a bit of a slump recently, having lost three of their last four matches. While the Charlotte Hornets have also been struggling and have lost their last five games. This should be an interesting matchup between two teams trying to turn things around.

Why The Bulls Could Cover The Spread

The Chicago Bulls have had a roller coaster of a season so far. There have been points when the Bulls have legitimately looked like the best team in the NBA. However, injuries and COVID have proven to be this team's downfall. The Bulls have faced a lot of adversity, but through it all, they have ended up on top. Through their first 54 games, the Bulls have 33 wins and 21 losses. Chicago is looking ready to make a playoff run, but they need to kick things up a notch if they hope to be serious contenders. The Hornets are a tough opponent, but this is definitely still a winnable game for the Bulls.

The main cause of the Bulls' recent struggles hasn't been a gap in ability, rather a gap in availability. Chicago has been riddled with injuries, but it seems like things may be starting to get better. Zach LaVine returned in their last match and helped the Bulls battle the suns all the way through the end of the fourth quarter. Chicago came up short by three points to arguably the best team in the league and LaVine and DeRozan combined for 70 points. Now that this duo has returned, the Bulls should be able to start winning games again.

In spite of LaVine's return, injuries still remain a problem for this Bulls team. Key contributors such as Alex Caruso and Lonzo Ball remain out with injuries along with three more roster members. The Bulls have faced adversity all season and have dealt with it pretty well. Even though they are missing some depth, LaVine's return is a huge gain for this team. Expect the DeRozan-LaVine duo to dominate on Wednesday.

Why The Hornets Could Cover The Spread

The Charlotte Hornets have also been all over the place this season. The Hornets offense has, at times, been one of the most explosive and dominant offenses in the league. However, their recent struggles have raised questions about this team's long-term outlook. Through their first 55 games, the Hornets have barely squeaked out a winning record with 28 wins and 27 losses. Charlotte is coming off a 15 point loss to the Toronto Raptors. The Hornets haven't won a game since January and will look to turn things around on Wednesday.

Charlotte is leaning heavily on their best players to carry their team. Miles Bridges, LaMelo Ball, and Terry Rozier, the big three in Charlotte, each played over 40 minutes in their loss to Toronto. While only eight players saw the floor in that game, the Hornets asked the most of their big three. Even if they manage to win some games this way it is simply unsustainable. The Charlotte big three is very solid, but it's not good enough to beat a team with decent depth. If the Bulls were fully healthy this game wouldn't be close. However, the Hornets have an opportunity here because of Chicago's injuries.

Like the Bulls, the Hornets have also had to deal with the adversity of injuries. Currently, Charlotte has four players listed on their injury report. Unfortunately, immediately after his return to action, Gordon Hayward suffered another injury and is out indefinitely. This injury is especially disheartening as Hayward had just made his highly anticipated return to action. Cody Martin and Jalen McDaniels will also miss Wednesday's match. This Charlotte team has an opportunity to beat a very good team, but they need everyone to contribute. If the team can come together and put in a solid performance, they could take advantage of the injured Bulls.

Final Bulls-Hornets Prediction & Pick

This is a pretty easy pick. DeMar and LaVine should be enough to take down Charlotte. The Hornets have not looked great recently and the Bulls are trending upwards. Betting on Charlotte recently has been a losing play. The Hornets could pull off this win, but it doesn't seem likely. The Bulls are a much safer bet here and should be your pick. Pick Chicago to win and cover.

Final Bulls-Hornets Prediction & Pick: Chicago Bulls -2 (-106)
