Why The Celtics Could Cover The Spread

The Celtics are a better team than their record suggests. Injuries have definitely played a part in their struggles. By the end of the season they will be looking to make a playoff run, but before that they need to get some wins. Boston just played Cleveland and lost by 2 in one of the lowest scoring games of the season. The Celtics will look to bounce back from that loss. If the Celtics can correct some of their mistakes from their last game and adapt with their injuries then they should be able to get a win on the road.

Leading the way for Boston is Jayson Tatum. Tatum struggled against Cleveland scoring only 21 points on 30 shot attempts. The all star will look to bounce back on Monday and have a big night in Cleveland. Tatum has been having a solid season, averaging over 23 points and 8 rebounds a game. If Tatum starts hitting shots on Monday then he could easily take over this game. The fifth year forward has already dropped a 40+ point game this season, he is capable of winning games for the Celtics.

The absence of Jaylen Brown has definitely impacted this Celtics team. However, it has allowed Dennis Schroder to step up for this team. Schroder is coming off a 28 point game against Cleveland. In their game before that against the Bucks he dropped 38 points. Dennis Schroder is hot right now and it's a welcome sight for Celtics fans. This team is much better when Jaylen Brown is on the floor, but Schroder has proven that he can pick up some of the slack. Expect the Schroder to continue contributing for Boston.

Why The Cavaliers Could Cover The Spread

The Cleveland Cavaliers have been one of the Cinderella stories of the NBA season thus far. Cleveland entered this season still rebuilding, but have emerged as a top team in the east. The Cavs took down Boston in their last match, narrowly winning by 2. They managed to get that win by stringing together a dominant fourth quarter. If the Cavs can carry that momentum into this match then they could win this game. These are fairly even teams, but if Cleveland can keep playing like they did in that fourth quarter then they should win this game.

This Cavs team doesn't have any clear superstars, rather a very talented roster that plays really good team basketball. In their last game against the Celtics, Darius Garland stepped up for the Cavs. In a game that ended with a score of 91-89, Garland dropped 22 points. The third year guard has been having a very solid season, and has been an important contributor for Cleveland. Garland is averaging nearly 17 points and over 7 assists a game. He is one of the pieces that makes this Cavs team dangerous and he proved why in their last game.

Another important part of this Cavaliers team is Jarrett Allen. Allen is playing in his sixth NBA season, but only his second as a Cav. This year the big man is averaging career highs across the board. Allen is getting a career high 32+ minutes of playing time a game and he has earned it. He averages over 14 points and nearly 11 boards a game. Allen's impact on games for this Cavs team has been evident. He is a big reason for their early success and will continue to contribute on Monday. Expect a big night from the big man.

Final Celtics-Cavaliers Prediction & Pick

This is going to be a really fun game. Both of these teams just played each other and will be looking to get a win on Monday. The Celtics will be out for revenge and the Cavs will be looking to prove they're the better team. It's very possible that this game will look very different than their last game. Tatum could have a big night and lead the Celtics to victory, but that's a big ask. The Cavs are just playing great basketball right now. Their team is balanced and they should be able to get a win on Monday. Pick Cleveland to cover and get ready for a great game.
