The San Antonio Spurs host the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night! It's time to continue our NBA odds series with a Grizzlies-Spurs prediction and pick.

The Grizzlies are fresh off of a bad loss to the Dallas Mavericks 104-91. The offense didn't show up outside of Ja Morant's 35 points and 13 rebounds. Memphis shot just 4-24 from deep and that was a huge reason for the loss. They are still (32-17) on the season which is good for the 3-seed in the Western Conference. The San Antonio Spurs are (18-30) on the season which puts them 12th in the West. The Spurs are coming off of a 30-point win over the Houston Rockets.

Why The Grizzlies Could Cover The Spread

Memphis should be more than capable of covering this spread. Morant leads the team in scoring at 25.3 which is 11th in the NBA. If Morant is on his game then the Grizzlies will be in a position to win this game. They are 24-11 against the West this year and beat the Spurs the first time around. This will be their second meeting of the season. The one player the Grizzlies need to pay attention to is Dejounte Murray. He's a rising star in this league and will be a force to reckon with for a long time. He's averaging 19 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists per game in his last 10. If the Grizzlies are able to contain him, then they should have no problem covering this spread and beating the Spurs once again.

Memphis is also one of the better teams in the league against the spread this year going (31-17). They are 7-3 in their last 10 games and don't seem to really be slowing down. Besides their last performance, the Grizzlies were dominating everyone in their path. Unless the Spurs play one of their better games of the season Memphis is in line to cover this spread.

Why The Spurs Could Cover The Spread

Unlike the Grizzlies, the Spurs are struggling to reach a playoff seed. They are 3-7 in their last 10 games but they did just put up 134 against the Rockets a few days back. Besides Murray, their next best options are Keldon Johnson and Derrick White. The team does have solid depth which is always a good sign in a covid-season like this year has been. They just need to put it all together and go on a run as soon as possible. San Antonio has as tough of a stretch of games as possible coming up after the Grizzlies. They will face the Chicago Bulls, Phoenix Suns, Golden State Warriors, and Miami Heat. All those teams have the top-5 records in the NBA. They need to figure it out now against the Grizzles and keep their momentum going from their last performance.

The good news for bettors in the Spurs are 24-22 against the spread this season. They cover well and remain in a majority of the games they play. The Grizzlies are one of the few teams to control them and that is likely going to be the result once again.

Final Grizzlies-Spurs Prediction & Pick

The Grizzlies won this first matchup pretty easily. Even though both teams are coming off opposite games, take the Grizzlies on the road as the spread isn't very high.

Final Grizzlies-Spurs Prediction & Pick: Grizzlies -4.5 (-110)
