Miami Heat: +4 (-110)

Brooklyn Nets: -4 (-110)

Over: 220 (-110)

Under: 220 (-110)

Why The Heat Could Cover The Spread

The Heat have been a very competitive team this season. Their one loss came in overtime against an underrated Indiana Pacers team. Miami demolished the Bucks in their season opener. This is not something to be taken lightly. Milwaukee is one of the best teams in the NBA, and the Heat beat them by an astonishing margin of 42. Miami is back and they will look to continue this competitive season against a tough Brooklyn team.

Leading the charge for this team is Jimmy Butler. Butler is without a doubt one of the league’s premiere talents. He is the go to option on any team he has been a part of. Butler is coming off his best statistical performance of the season. Against Orlando, he had 36 points and 5 steals in 33 minutes. Additionally, he shot a ridiculously efficient 15-21 from the field. If Jimmy Butler can play like this against the Nets, then everything should fall in place for the Heat.

Another pillar of this Heat team has been Bam Adebayo. Bam has been making a big impact this season. He has a double double in every game so far. On top of that, he has been a dominant force in the paint and on the boards. Bam has turned himself into one of the best centers in the league. It will be tough for Brooklyn to match up with him stylistically. If Bam can get Miami a few extra possessions and dominate this game in the paint then they will be in a position to win this game.

Why The Nets Could Cover The Spread

The Brooklyn Nets have had a rollercoaster start to the season. On any team where there’s an abundance of talent there will usually be chemistry issues. The Nets are 2-2, but are coming off their biggest win of the season. Brooklyn smashed the Wizards, winning by 14, and showed that they are one of the best teams in the NBA. If the Nets can keep that momentum heading into Wednesday’s game, then they should be able to pick apart Miami.

Without a doubt KD is the front man and leader of this team. The 15th year forward is having an incredible season. He’s coming off an okay performance against Washington. Durant put up 25 points and 8 rebounds, but will look to dominate against Miami. KD is averaging 31 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 assists a game. These are the best numbers of his career. If Durant can continue this type of production on a nightly basis then all opposing teams will struggle.

A bright spot in this Brooklyn team has been Patty Mills. The Nets acquired Patty Mills this past offseason in order to bring a spark to the bench, and he has done just that. Mills has been an offensive machine. He relentlessly knocks down threes and brings a huge amount of energy to the game. Mills is in his 13th year in the NBA and is averaging career highs. He is getting more playing time than he has ever gotten and has been producing. The Nets guard is shooting a ridiculous 64% from beyond the arc, and is averaging over 6 attempts a game. If Patty Mills gets going the Nets should feel very good about this game.

Final Heat-Nets Prediction & Pick

This should be a good game, but the Nets are clearly the better team. The line is likely this close because Brooklyn has had their share of struggles this season. However, they proved that they could still dominate with an okay performance from KD and a significantly below average outing from Harden. This Nets team is deep and they are built to make a deep run in the playoffs this year. If their last game was any indication then they will be looking to dominate Miami. The over isn’t a bade option here at 220, but stick with Brooklyn. Pick the Nets to win and cover and get ready for a great Eastern Conference match up.

FINAL HEAT-NETS PICK: Brooklyn Nets -4 (-110)
