The Brooklyn Nets will host the Charlotte Hornets in an Eastern Conference battle at the Barclays Center. It’s time to continue our NBA odds series and make a Hornets-Nets prediction and pick.

Charlotte will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak. Brooklyn is in a great spot to bounce back after a loss against the East-leading Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night.

Here’s how sportsbooks have set the opening Hornets-Nets odds.

NBA Odds: Hornets-Nets Odds

Charlotte Hornets +12 (-110)

Brooklyn Nets -12 (-110)

Over 222.5 Points (-115)

Under 222.5 Points (-105)

Why The Hornets Could Cover The Spread

The Hornets need a win to get back on track after losing their last three contests coming in. They have won seven of their last 13 games and are still in the playoff mix. Charlotte has to survive a plethora of injuries for the foreseeable future, namely LaMelo Ball and Gordon Hayward. The Hornets lost by 13 points in their last game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The loss was crushing in a get-right spot for Charlotte, but they did see some promising performances in the game.

Terry Rozier continued his impressive play with 22 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists in the loss. Miles Bridges added 20 points, while Devonte Graham registered 15 points and seven assists of his own. The Hornets shot just 40% from the field as a team and will have to work to get higher percentage looks against a Nets team that is almost guaranteed to score 115-plus points. Charlotte has been good on the road, going 16-13 ATS on the season and 6-2 ATS in the last eight games away from home. The Hornets will have the luxury of not seeing James Harden on the other end of the floor.

Why The Nets Could Cover The Spread

The Nets have split their last six games and will look to get back over the hump against a reeling Hornets team. Charlotte is dealing with so many injuries, which is promising for the Nets given that KD is set to return to the court. Brooklyn is arguably the best offensive team in the league this season, averaging 118.8 points per game on 49.4% shooting. The return of Durant obviously makes them better given he's averaging 28.2 points and 5.2 assists for his team this season.

Brooklyn is coming off a loss against Philadelphia. Kyrie Irving led the way with 37 points and nine assists in the loss. He was tasked with competing with the best team in the East with no KD or Harden, and he did an admirable job. The Nets brought that game to within three points with under two minutes remaining, only to fall just short. Brooklyn is in a prime bounce-back spot and is 9-1 in its last 10 home games.

Final Hornets-Nets Prediction & Pick

The Hornets are in such an unfortunate position with so many players currently sidelined. Because of this, they have had a miserable time trying to score the basketball. They haven't reached 100 points in each of their last two games. Brooklyn is in a great spot to bounce back in a big way with a double-digit victory at home. Look for Durant and Irving to go off in a resounding Nets win.

FINAL PICK: Brooklyn Nets -12 (-110)
