Why The Jazz Could Cover The Spread

Donovan Mitchell will miss his third straight game with a concussion and is out against the Warriors. That will clearly make things difficult for them against one of the top teams in the league. The Jazz won their last game but barely squeezed by one of the worst teams in the NBA. Even without Mitchell, the Jazz are one of the deepest teams in the league and have options everywhere. Mike Conley, Jordan Clarkson, Bojan Bogdanovic, and Joe Ingles can all score at any time. Bogdanovic and Rudy Gobert scored 23 and 24 points respectively against the Pistons. They will need to see that type of scoring if they want to cover this spread on the road. The Jazz will also need to find a way to shut down Steph Curry who is coming off his first career buzzer-beating shot.

Utah is 19-6 against the West this season and are 15-7 on the road. Those are good signs if you are looking to bet on them. The bad news is that they are just 20-26 against the spread this season. Without Mitchell, this is going to be a tough showing against one of the league's best teams. The Warriors won the last time they faced 123-116 back on Jan. 2. This will be the second meeting of the season.

Why The Warriors Could Cover The Spread

Klay Thompson should be playing against the Jazz tonight. It will be his seventh appearance of the season and he's averaged 14.7 points per game since his return. They will need him tonight because the Jazz are a very good team even without Mitchell. That should make Thompson's job is a little easier tonight, however, as he doesn't have to guard one of the NBA's top scorers. If the Warriors want to cover this spread, then he and Steph Curry will need to light up the arena. Andrew Wiggens should play as well but Draymond Green and James Wieseman will miss the game. That will be a big loss because another factor in them covering this spread is to control the paint. Without Green and Wiseman, Gobert should dominate the boards and give the Jazz a ton of second-chance points.

Both teams are just 4-6 in their last 10 games. It's been a rough stretch of games but whoever wins this game should get back on track. The loser will need to seriously figure things out because the midway point of the season is upon us and things are starting to get interesting around the NBA. Golden State is 25-19-2 against the spread this season. They could be in a good spot to cover this spread at home if all goes right.

Final Jazz-Warriors Prediction & Pick

This is not an easy one to pick because of all the injuries. Without Mitchell, it's hard to bet on the Jazz but that spread gives them a chance to cover even with a loss. Although, if Thompson does play tonight, I expect the Warriors to show up at home. Take the Warriors with the splash bros intact.

Final Jazz-Warriors Prediction & Pick: Warriors -5.5 (-110)
