The Dallas Mavericks will play host to the Sacramento Kings in a Western Conference affair on Sunday night. It’s time to continue our NBA odds series and make a Kings-Mavs prediction and pick.

Sacramento will look to build off of their impressive upset victory against the Los Angeles Lakers a few nights ago. The Kings are 3-3 over their last six games and will be hoping to turn a corner and finish the season on a high note. Dallas has been red-hot, going 6-1 over their last seven games coming in.

Here’s how sportsbooks have set the opening Kings-Mavericks odds.

NBA Odds: Kings-Mavs Odds

Sacramento Kings +6.5 (-110)

Dallas Mavericks -6.5 (-110)

Over 228.5 Points (-110)

Under 228.5 Points (-110)

Why The Kings Could Cover The Spread

The Sacramento Kings certainly haven't quit fighting as the season winds down. They have been underwhelming all year long despite the core of young talent that this team possesses. The Kings are one of those teams that seems like they are right around the corner from being a good team every year. Sacramento has drafted well of late and now has some electrifying talent on the offensive end of the floor. Highlighting that compilation of young talent is young phenom Tyrese Haliburton.

Haliburton led the way with 23 points and 10 assists for the Kings in their latest win against the Lakers. Sacramento pulled off the outright victory despite entering the game as 11.5-point underdogs against a Los Angeles team that was welcoming LeBron James back to the court. With Harrison Barnes and De'Aaron Fox set to miss this game against Dallas, look for the Kings to run their offense through the rookie out of Iowa State once again. Sacramento has played well against Dallas of late, going 7-1-1 ATS in their last nine head-to-head matchup's.

Why The Mavs Could Cover The Spread

The Dallas Mavericks are so close to turning a corner and becoming a powerhouse in the Western Conference. With Luka Doncic and Kristaps Porzingis, Dallas has the star-power to compete with anyone. They sit in the middle of the pack out west and will look to string together multiple wins down the stretch to secure the best spot possible in the playoffs. The Mavericks have to be feeling good after last night's win against the Washington Wizards.

Luka Doncic led the way for his club in the win with 31 points, 12 rebounds, and a season-high 20 assists. This has to be promising for Doncic who snapped his longest streak of games without a triple-double since his rookie season. The 20-assist performance is just what they need from their catalyst and primary ball-handler. Dallas is loaded with outside shooters that are just waiting for Luka to create. Dallas has won six of their last seven games and now has a clear formula for success heading into the postseason.

Final Kings-Mavs Prediction & Pick

There is no other way to say this. If this were high school basketball, the Mavericks would be class-B and the Kings would be class-C, at best. Without De'Aaron Fox, Sacramento doesn't have a true identity on the offensive end of the floor. Dallas is scorching hot and riding a ton of momentum after Luka's historic performance last night. The Mavericks will look to build on the recent success with a resounding win against an underwhelming Kings bunch. You know Dallas will not let Sacramento sweep them this year, too.

FINAL PICK PREDICTION: Dallas Mavericks -6.5 (-110)
