Why The Magic Can Cover The Spread
Orlando might be able to cover this lofty number, but the odds themselves tell the story. The Magic are huge underdogs vs. the Warriors on Monday. This could be the worst team in the NBA on the road vs. the best team in the NBA. Orlando's path to a win is some sort of miracle, but a cover could be easier to navigate. Orlando has the second worst net rating in the NBA, while the Warriors have the best net rating. Golden State is second in the NBA in true shooting coming into Monday's action, Orlando is 28th. See where this is going? The Warriors are much better than the Magic in every area of the game at this point.
The Magic may be able to cover this lofty number, but it's not something to feel great about. Orlando is 11-13 against the spread this season, and 3-11 outright on the road.
Why The Warriors Can Cover The Spread
The Warriors will look to keep rolling Monday in what should be a very favorable matchup. Golden State comes into play as the best team in the NBA so far this season, as Stephen Curry has been playing at an MVP level so far this season. The Warriors are still awaiting the returns of Klay Thompson and James Wiseman, as both players have been practicing with Golden State's G League affiliate. While they will be without those players as well as Andre Iguodala on Monday, they should still be in the driver's seat to pick up the win vs. a bad Magic team in this matchup. The Warriors have been one of the best teams at home going back to the original Curry-Green-Thompson-Kerr Warriors from a few years ago, and they have appeared to rekindle that flame this season.
Golden State is 12-2 at home and 16-6-1 against the spread so far this season. While no game in the NBA is “easy”, the Warriors should be able to win and cover in this matchup vs. a much inferior opponent.
