The Brooklyn Nets and Cleveland Cavaliers play in an Eastern Conference matchup on Monday. It's time to continue our NBA odds series and make a Nets-Cavaliers prediction and pick.

The Nets and Cavaliers will battle on Monday night as Brooklyn will look to continue to stay hot. Cleveland on the other hand will be looking to snap a three-game losing streak when these teams meet on Monday. The Nets are 6-2 on the road this season, and have won nine of eleven overall. Kevin Durant and James Harden lead the way of course, as Kyrie Irving is still away from the team (vaccination status). Cleveland comes in as underdogs on their home floor on Monday, to no surprise.

Why The Nets Can Cover The Spread

The Nets have seemingly slipped into a groove early in this season despite the absence of Kyrie Irving. Kevin Durant is second in the NBA in scoring, and James Harden is third in assists. Brooklyn is also creeping up the ladder in terms of efficiency, as they are up to seventh in the NBA with a +3.4 net rating. Ball movement has been a positive, as the Nets rank sixth in assists per game and are 11-2 when they record 20 assists or more (1-3 with under 20 assists).

The Nets will not have their full rotation again on Monday, as Bruce Brown, Nic Claxton and Joe Harris have all been ruled out. Brooklyn could still be in a position to cover and win vs. a banged up Cavaliers team, however.

Why The Cavaliers Can Cover The Spread

The Cavaliers have been a nice surprise this season, going 9-8 in their first 17 games when most projected them to be a lottery team again. However, Cleveland lost Collin Sexton for the season due to injury and standout rookie Evan Mobley is currently banged up and will not be available on Monday. It will be an uphill battle to cover or win vs. a well-rested Nets team that comes in as one of the hottest teams in the NBA.

Jarrett Allen should be able to hold down the Cavaliers on defense, so maybe they pull out a cover or a win in a low scoring game, but it's tough to bet on that as the Nets have been in rhythm of late and will feature the best two scorers on the floor by a wide margin. Harden will also easily be the best passer on the court in this game. It feels like the Cavaliers might be outmatched in this matchup vs. a streaking Nets group.

Final Nets-Cavaliers Prediction & Pick

Take the Nets to cover and win as the better team in this matchup. Durant and Harden should prove to be too much for a Cleveland team that is missing key pieces.
