The Minnesota Timberwolves host the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday night! It's time to continue our NBA odds series with a Nuggets-Timberwolves prediction and pick.

The Denver Nuggets are coming off their best performance of the season Sunday night in the win over the Milwaukee Bucks. Everything went right for the Nuggets while everything went wrong for the Bucks. Either way you look at it, the Nuggets showed up to play and beat the Bucks by over 30 points. Denver has won five-straight games and is surging up the Western Conference standings. They are (28-21) on the season which puts them 5th in the West.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are dead even at (25-25) which puts them 8th in the West. They are coming off a 126-106 win over the Utah Jazz last time out after a brutal two-game stretch against the two best teams in the NBA. This is a good team, and it finally seems like they are starting to put everything together. This will be a good test for the right now to see if they can get back above .500.

Why The Nuggets Could Cover The Spread

The Nuggets are coming into this game as the underdogs which is a questionable call. Both sides are coming off huge wins but the Nuggets are playing like the better team right now. Denver just doesn't really elevate their game against the better teams in the NBA. They are just 14-14 against teams over .500. The good news for them is the Timberwolves are even so that means the Nuggets should play better against them if their trend stays consistent. These two teams meet for the third time this season with Minnesota winning the last matchup 124-107. Anthony Edwards scored 38 in the win but this was in early December when the Timberwolves were playing better as a team. The Nuggets will need to contain Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns if they want a chance to cover this spread. Those two are playing very well right now averaging north of 22 points per game.

Why The Timberwolves Could Cover The Spread

The Timberwolves come into this game as the favorites at home. They are 14-10 at home this season and 6-4 against the division. Minnesota can easily cover this spread if they play as they did the last time they squared off against Denver. Their No. 1 priority will be to find a way to contain Nikola Jokic. The Jokic-Towns matchup will be a fun one to pay attention to as Towns might be one of the few defenders in the NBA who can shut him down. The Timberwolves will be without Patrick Beverley and D'Angelo Russell so their backcourt will be limited. It will be on Edwards to control the backcourt and lead the team that is playing well offensively. The T-wolves are 5-5 in their last 10 games averaging 119.6 points per game which is very good. The issue is they are allowing 118 which is not a good sign because the Nuggets are averaging 122.6 points per game in their last 10. If the timberwolves' defense doesn't step up tonight, then the Nuggets could roll over them.

Final Nuggets-Timberwolves Prediction & Pick

This is a tricky spread to pick but I am going with the Nuggets to cover this spread here on the road. They are 8-2 in their last 10 games with an 11-point win differential. That is huge at this point in the season and that should carry over to this game.
