Wednesday night in the Association will feature an interconference matchup between two historic franchises! It's time to continue our NBA odds series with a Spurs-Celtics prediction and pick based on Spurs Celtics NBA odds.

We aren't used to seeing these two teams with losing records. The San Antonio Spurs are currently 14-21 which is good for 11th in the Western Conference. The Boston Celtics are 18-19 which puts them in 10th in the East. We will likely see both or at least one of these two teams make a push for the playoffs, as it would be strange to not see them make it. There is still plenty of time to go until the end of the season, but one thing is for sure, and that is both teams need to get it going.

The Spurs are fresh off of a blowout loss to the Toronto Raptors 129-104 last time out. They also lost to the Detroit Pistons prior to that. San Antonio is 7-12 on the road this year while the Celtics are 11-7 at home. Boston is fresh off of a big win against the Orlando Magic where Jaylen Brown scored 50 points for the first time in his young career. Prior to the win against the Magic, the Celtics played very well and beat the Phoenix Suns after a triple-double from center Robert Williams III (first of his career).

Here is how FanDuel set the Spurs-Celtics line for Wednesday night.

NBA Odds: Spurs-Celtics Odds

San Antonio Spurs: +7.5 (-108)

Boston Celtics: -7.5 (-112)

Over: 223.5 (-112)

Why The Spurs Could Cover The Spread

The Spurs have a great chance of covering this spread. The last time these two teams met, the Spurs won 96-88 in San Antonio. That was arguably the worst outing for Boston all season long and they have made strides since then. But either way, the Spurs have a chance to cover a larger spread than many anticipated. Either way, the Spurs will need to be on their game if they want to win in Boston. It's never easy winning a game on the road, especially in Boston. With all that being said, San Antonio will look for Dejounte Murray and Derrick White to lead the Spurs past the Celtics once again. It will take an all-out effort and on the defensive end, they need to contain Jaylen Brown who is playing very well right now.

Why The Celtics Could Cover The Spread

Boston might be the most inconsistent team in the NBA. This is a team that can compete with anyone and usually raises their play against good teams. The problem is they lower their play when playing sub-par teams. That can't continue to happen if the Celtics want to compete for the title. The Celtics are 5-5 in their last 10 games but have won the last two without star Jayson Tatum. He should be set to return Wednesday night. Boston will need to look for Brown to keep his hot-run alive and veterans like Marcus Smart and Al Horford will need to help get past the Spurs. With Tatum back in the lineup, the Celtics have a chance to really get it going right now.

Final Spurs-Celtics Prediction & Pick

Tatum is back and the Celtics look to be the favorites in this game. I expect Boston to win, but I'm taking the Spurs to cover this spread. I don't think Boston will win by more than eight points, and if they do, well then that is a great sign for the Celtics who are still under .500. The game was very low-scoring last time out. I'm going to assume it's a similar defensive-minded game.

Final Spurs-Celtics Prediction & Pick: Spurs +7.5 (-108) and under: 223.5 (-110)
