The Sacramento Kings are starting a three-game homestand against the San Antonio Spurs at Golden 1 Center. With that being said, it’s time to continue our NBA odds series and make a Spurs-Kings prediction and pick.

The Spurs are currently on a five-game losing streak to drop down to the 10th seed in the Western Conference with a record of 31-34. Meanwhile, the 12th seed Kings have won four consecutive games for a record of 29-37 as they make a late run to get into the play-in tournament in the Western Conference.

Here’s how sportsbooks have set the opening Spurs-Kings odds.

NBA Odds: Spurs-Kings Odds

Sacramento Kings +4.5 (-113)

Over 223.5 Points (-110)

Under 223.5 Points(-110)

Why The Spurs Could Cover The Spread

Injury Report: Derrick White (out) and Trey Lyles (out).

The Spurs are going through a rough stretch, losing six of their last ten games, as they look to secure a spot in the play-in tournament in the Western Conference.

While the Spurs have been great on the defensive end of the floor holding the 12th best defensive rating, the area that Gregg Popovich’s squad has struggled the most in is on the offensive end of the floor where they currently rank 19th.

Offensively, DeMar DeRozan has been their main weapon averaging 21.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 7.3 assists while shooting nearly 50 percent from the field. Murray, on the other hand, has been putting up 15.7 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 5.3 assists per game while shooting 45 percent from the field.

Popovich also has four other active players scoring double-digit points, including Rudy Gay, Keldon Johnson, and Patty Mills, that they will need to step up and make up for the offensive void left behind by White.

Ultimately, the main key for the Spurs to cover the spread on Sunday will be to play with more energy than the Kings and to not let them gain any confidence as they are playing very empty-handed.

Why The Kings Could Cover The Spread

Injury Report: De’Aaron Fox (out), Harrison Barnes (out), Tyrese Haliburton (out), Robert Woodard II (out), and Chimezie Metu (out).

The Kings have been incredibly inconsistent this year and more so as of late. The Kings have won four straight games without many of their starters, including wins against the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, and Indiana Pacers.

During this stretch, Sacramento’s role players have really stepped up, in particular Delon Wright, Buddy Hield, Richaun Holmes, and Marvin Bagley III, to fill the offensive void left behind by Fox, Barnes, and Haliburton.

The Kings’ star, De’Aaron Fox, has been averaging 25.2 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 7.2 assists per game while shooting very efficiently from the field.

Unfortunately, this Sacramento team will be without Fox on Friday, as well as Barnes, so Luke Walton will need to get his other starters and players off the bench to step up and make up for a lot of lost production with those two out. Fortunately, they are a solid and balanced offensive team with four other players averaging double-digit points for the season.

The primary issue for the Kings which has been the problem all season long lies on the defensive end of the floor where they currently rank dead last in the league. This will be the key for Sacramento to cover the spread against the Spurs who struggle on offense.

Final Spurs-Kings Prediction & Pick

Despite the number of injuries that the Kings are going through, they have been able to pull off a number of wins against great teams that are projected to make deep playoff runs. That said, the Kings are not a team to take lightly and the Spurs will have to play very solid defense as well as to have DeRozan and Murray to have very great offensive games to pull out a win against the Kings.

FINAL SCORE PREDICTION & PICK FOR SPURS-KINGS: SAS 112, SAC 104 (SAS -4.5)
