The Phoenix Suns take on the San Antonio Spurs on the last day of the NBA’s regular season, and there are seeding ramifications involved in this game. It’s time to continue our NBA odds series and make a Suns-Spurs prediction and pick.

These two teams battled on the first night of a back-to-back baseball series, which the Suns won by 37. Phoenix still has a chance to earn the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference. A win is needed here along with a Utah Jazz loss to the Sacramento Kings.  Meanwhile, the Spurs are locked in on that No. 10 seed and will play the loser of the Memphis Grizzlies-Golden State Warriors game in the play-in tournament.

Here’s how sportsbooks have set the Suns-Spurs odds.

NBA Odds: Suns-Spurs Odds

Phoenix Suns -9.5 (-110)

San Antonio Spurs +9.5 (-110)

Over 227 (-110)

Under 227 (-110)

Why the Suns could cover the spread

The Suns were led by Devin Booker’s 27 points on Saturday, but he also got help from role players like Mikal Bridges, Cameron Payne and Dario Saric, who replaced Deandre Ayton in the starting lineup. It’s clear that Booker carries the scoring load of this team, but when the Suns’ role players are clicking as well, Phoenix is close to unbeatable.

Chris Paul had 16 points to go with his 10 assists and five rebounds as well, spearheading the offense of one of the best teams in the league.

The Suns have much more at stake compared to the Spurs, which is why they might just take this game more seriously. A Paul-led team will not tank, and there's no reason to with the top seed in the West still a possibility. They’ve taken each game seriously and will likely compete to their utmost potential for Sunday’s game as well.

Why the Spurs could cover the spread

The Spurs can pull an upset if their key players give it a go after missing Saturday's game. Only nine players suited up for the Spurs, who shot 4-of-26 from 3-point range. DeMar DeRozan, Dejounte Murray, Jakob Poeltl and Rudy Gay all didn't play. Saturday seemed like a schedule loss, so maybe San Antonio will play these key guys ahead of the play-in round.

Aside from playing their starters, Keldon Johnson, Lonnie Walker IV and Devin Vassell must all score consistently throughout the game. They need their 3-balls to go in in order to have a shot for Sunday’s game, with Patty Mills also needed. While it seems unlikely, the chances of the Spurs winning Sunday’s game would go up if the Suns decide to rest their players.

Final Suns-Spurs Prediction & Pick

Considering a Paul-led team barely tanks any game, the Suns will likely win their third straight game to close out their impressive season. While it makes some sense to rest starters at this time of the year, this just seems unlikely for the Suns, who are gunning for the first seed in the competitive Western Conference.

Even if the Suns do indeed rest some plays, the Spurs just don’t have enough firepower to defeat them. The best bet the Spurs have is to maybe have a hot scoring night and outhustle the Suns. Either way, this game won’t affect the Spurs, who will be the 10th seed in the Western Conference no matter what.
