The Clippers and Thunder have had shaky starts to the season, as expected. Los Angeles is playing without their best player in Kawhi Leonard while OKC is a young and rebuilding team who defeated the Los Angeles Lakers a couple of days ago. The Clippers have only won once and that’s vs. the Portland Trail Blazers at home. So, both teams have the opportunity to climb up the winning column on Monday.
OKC is led by their rising star Shai-Gilgeous-Alexander but the guard can only do so much. If the Clippers can lock him up and play enough defense, the home team should have the edge on Monday. However, it doesn’t help that guys like Luke Kennard, Reggie Jackson and Eric Bledose have been missing their shots thus making the L.A. Clippers a one-man Paul Goerge show. If the Clippers continue to struggle from the perimeter then this could be a close game still.

Why The Thunder Could Cover The Spread
If the Thunder find a way to get Derrick Favors and Darius Bazely going early then chances are they will get to keep it close since the frontcourt is the Clippers’ weakest depth position. It would also be great for them if SGA suddenly remembers the Clippers got rid of him for George and takes it personally so he has the best game of his career. Another way the Thunder can defeat the Clippers is if they win the three point battle.
Why The Clippers Could Cover The Spread
One name — Paul George. If it weren’t for L.A’s weak start, George is certainly in the conversation for Most Valuable Player. He’s carried the Clippers in the past week and produced for them immensely. George is on scoring roll and it helps that he’s a great defender as well who can clamp up the opponent’s best player. The Clippers haven’t shot the ball well but there’s a good chance that they finally hit their stride soon. If there’s a perfect game for them to gain back their shooting rhythm, it should be this one.

This should be an easy one for the Clippers despite their poor start. OKC isn’t a competitive team now and it helps that L.A. is probably eager to break their losing streak. No big name is currently listed on the injury report and unless George is a last minute scratch then the Clippers should have the advantage all the way.
In terms of the spread, the Clippers can definitely beat the Thunder by 11 or more points.
