The Minnesota Timberwolves will take on the Phoenix Suns in a potential Western Conference playoff preview. It's time to continue our NBA odds series and make. Timberwolves-Suns prediction and pick.
The T-Wolves are coming off of a tough loss to the Golden State Warriors, the team with the second-best record in the league. It's just unlucky that they have to face the best team in the NBA in the Suns on the second leg of a brutal back-to-back. Pulling off an upset win here would give Minnesota a huge confidence boost as they head into a weekend off. Phoenix, on the other hand, doesn't need any sort of confidence boost. They've won eight consecutive games and twelve of their last fourteen contests. This has all the makings of a great matchup, so let's get straight into the pick.

Why The Timberwolves Could Cover The Spread
This is a very similar matchup to Minnesota's game against the Warriors. Both Golden State and Phoenix are elite in every facet, especially on defense. The Suns are a slightly better shooting team, but the difference isn't huge. The Timberwolves hung around with the Warriors for all four quarters last night, so it's easy to see them doing the same thing here. Nine points may be a little bit too much for Phoenix to handle here.
This is one of the biggest spreads that the Timberwolves have faced all season. They've only faced three bigger numbers, and they've either covered or pushed in every single one of those contests, including games against the Brooklyn Nets and the Utah Jazz. Minnesota also has plenty of momentum coming into this game, as they've won eight of their last twelve games. This looks like a decent spot to take the T-Wolves to cover one of the biggest spreads they've seen this season.
Why The Suns Could Cover The Spread
The Suns have been so good this season that they rank near the top of the league in almost every single statistical category, especially on offense. Phoenix leads the NBA in shooting percentage while ranking inside the top ten in field goals made per game, shooting efficiency, and three-point percentage. Minnesota allows 110 points per game to their opponents while giving up a 45% field goal percentage. The Timberwolves are a flat-out bad defensive team, and this Suns offense will make them pay.
Unfortunately for Minnesota, they could be without two key players in this contest. Starting point guard Patrick Beverley has already been ruled out of this game, and starting shooting guard D'Angelo Russell is unlikely to take the floor after suffering a shin contusion against the Warriors. That means Jaylen Nowell and Malik Beasley are in line for huge workloads, with Jordan McLaughlin taking lots of bench minutes. That's not exactly an intimidating lineup for the Suns to face.

Final Timberwolves-Suns Prediction & Pick
This game shouldn't be particularly close. The T-Wolves are down two key players, they're on the road, and they're facing one of the best teams in the league on the second night of a back-to-back. Lock in the Suns here.
Final Timberwolves-Suns Prediction & Pick: Phoenix Suns: -8.5 (-114)
