The battle that many pundits viewed as boxing’s true megafight have ended in a draw. Gennady Golovkin and Canelo Alvarez finished 12 rounds and the judges’ scores were as follows: a highly-questionable 118-110 for Canelo, 115-113 for Golovkin, and 114-114.

Unlike the recent Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor match, this one lacked the loudmouth appeal that the aforementioned stars have, but Canelo and Golovkin were both highly-touted as two of the sport’s current best and that was enough to bill the fight as a pure boxing spectacle of the highest order.

Unfortunately, the night was tainted with controversy and frustrated reactions were a dime a dozen as many saw the fight going in Triple G’s favor. Nonetheless, it was a big fight and, as always, NBA players took to Twitter to air their reactions to the result.

Dwight Howard, who recently, and happily, took some punches himself is one with the majority.

Despite the draw, it seems that everyone is in unison that a rematch is only fitting for these two pugilists.
