Darren Collison is still planning to come out of retirement, and he's hoping to make his decision in the near future.

The former NBA point guard, who announced his retirement from the game of basketball over the summer, is hoping to sign with either the Los Angeles Lakers or Los Angeles Clippers after the All-Star break, according to Sean Deveney of Heavy.com.

There are no guarantees that Collison will return, but with the guard not wanting to leave the Los Angeles area and both LA teams being in need of a playmaker, he seems like a natural fit on either squad. ESPN's Marc Spears suggested on “The Sedano Show” that he wouldn't be surprised if the Lakers are in the lead for Collison's services, but again, there are no guarantees here.

Collison spent the final (for now) year of his NBA career with the Indiana Pacers last season, playing in 76 games and averaging 11.2 points, 6.0 assists, 3.1 rebounds and 1.4 assists over 28.2 minutes per game while shooting 46.7 percent from the floor, 40.7 percent from 3-point range and 83.2 percent from the free-throw line.

While he is not an All-Star-caliber player by any means, Collison can certainly help a contender, as he is a fine perimeter shooter and takes very good care of the basketball.

Of course, it remains to be seen how effective the 32-year-old would be after having not played basketball for quite some time, but it probably wouldn't take too long for him to get himself back into shape.

Collison, who played his collegiate basketball at UCLA, was originally selected by the New Orleans Hornets in the first round (21st pick overall) of the 2009 NBA Draft.

He spent just one season with the Hornets before being traded to the Pacers the following season, where he spent two years in his first stint with the club.

After that, Darren Collison bounced around between the Dallas Mavericks, Clippers and Sacramento Kings before linking back up with the Pacers during the summer of 2017.
