The NBA's one-week transaction window will open within a matter of minutes, and one of the sneakiest signings could be DeMarcus Cousins.

The big man, who was waived by the Los Angeles Lakers back in late February, is one of the most notable names NBA teams are interested in. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski brought the scoop to ESPN's “Get Up,” where he explained the delicacy of his situation.

Transcript via Mike Chiari of Bleacher Report:

“Cousins, he and his agent, Jeff Schwartz — I'm told they're going to be very careful about where they might commit,” said Wojnarowski. “There's teams interested, but they're going to have to find the right situation for him to come back now, because if they can give him another six months of rehab and preparation for next season, wouldn't rule him out with a team this year, but it's got to be the right team, right situation or he just waits until a training camp next year with a new team.”

Cousins was expected to remain a free agent until the next NBA season, considering he has suffered a torn Achilles, torn quad, and torn ACL in the span of 18 months.

Boogie did not play a single minute for the Lakers after tearing his ACL during an informal summer pick-up game. He was waived to make room for other bodies ahead of the postseason. If a team winds up signing him, it will do so with the vision of bringing back a healthy version for the 2020-21 season more so than adding a potential cog to make a playoff push.

While John Wall has expressed interest in his Washington Wizards signing Cousins, it looks like that won't be in the cards. The Lakers could also look to bring him back if they want.

Cousins played a total of 30 regular-season games with the Golden State Warriors last season, putting up 16.3 points, 8.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.5 blocks per game. He managed to overcome a torn quad in the playoffs to return for the NBA Finals against the Toronto Raptors.
