The Milwaukee Bucks are no longer in line to acquire Bogdan Bogdanovic from the Sacramento Kings, and other suitors have emerged.

Bogdanovic will enter restricted free agency later Friday evening. Sam Amick and Eric Nehm of The Athletic reported the NBA is vigorously investigating the failed sign-and-trade between Milwaukee and Sacramento, while the Atlanta Hawks and Los Angeles Lakers are expressing interest in making “Bogie” an offer sheet:

As The Athletic and The New York Times reported on Thursday, the league is indeed looking into the matter. Serious pressure is being applied to all parties, and sources told The Athletic midday Friday that the Bogdanovic-to-the-Bucks prospect is dead. Bogdanovic and his representation are expected to take meetings when it’s allowed this afternoon/evening, with Atlanta and the Lakers known to be among the suitors.

The Lakers were among the teams to explore trading for Bogdanovic ahead of the February trade deadline, though nothing developed.

Los Angeles already traded Danny Green, and also stand to lose both Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Avery Bradley in free agency. Bogdan Bogdanovic is an ideal fit for the Lakers as a shot-creating wing capable of being a secondary ball-hander. He can also fill it up from deep.

But Atlanta is another ideal fit. The Hawks acquired more shooting by trading for Tony Snell, and are also still looking for added playmaking to complement Trae Young. They are still high on Gordon Hayward, who became an unrestricted free agent after declining his $34 million player option.

Should the Lakers successfully sign for Bogdanovic, it would certainly appear as a huge blow in the NBA to the Bucks, who are trying to keep Giannis Antetokounmpo in the smaller market Milwaukee.
