Veteran center DeAndre Jordan is now officially a member of the New York Knicks, with the former Dallas Mavericks big man making his Big Apple debut on Sunday afternoon against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Traded from Dallas to New York late last week, Jordan has already become a candidate to be bought out by the Knicks, with the lowly Eastern Conference franchise clearly in full-on tank mode. If ultimately bought out by the Knicks, the former Mavericks center would become an unrestricted free agent, making him free to sign with any team that will have him.

With the NBA rumor mill continuing to churn, as is tradition this time of year, the latest speculation has Jordan potentially returning to the West Coast, and specifically, Los Angeles. According to a recent report from Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times, it could be either the Lakers or Clippers that land Jordan on his way out of New York.

“A reunion with the Clippers is a definite possibility,” writes Woike. “The team could use more rebounding, and Jordan could rebuild some of his defensive reputation by helping the Clippers in an area where they struggle.

“Jordan would like to return to Los Angeles, and he’s still close with coach Doc Rivers. Some NBA scouts believe a pairing with the Lakers, perhaps next summer, makes sense for Jordan, too.”

Prior to making his way from Dallas to New York, the 30-year-old Jordan notably played for the Clippers between 2008 and 2018. After 750 regular season appearances with the Clippers, Jordan went on to last just 50 games as a member of the Mavericks before being traded to the Knicks.
