For one of his dunks in the NBA Slam-Dunk Contest, Portland Trail Blazers guard Anfernee Simons channeled his inner Tracy McGrady with an epic 360 slam.

Like many have done before, Simons took the effort to bring out a vintage Toronto Raptors McGrady jersey for his slam. The likes of Josh Smith (Dominique Wilkins jersey), DeMar DeRozan (Vince Carter jersey), Larry Nance Jr. (Larry Nance Sr. jersey) have all done it before. Simons forged his name into this longstanding dunk contest tradition.

While his dunk didn't exactly copy McGrady, he didn't exactly disappoint either. Perhaps Simons wanted to remind everyone that once upon a time, McGrady donned the Raptors jersey and actually participated in a Slam Dunk Contest.

To recall, this was the 2000 Dunk Contest which Vince Carter won. Since Carter's dunks were so good, people forgot the rest of the participants like McGrady, Steve Francis, Ricky Davis, Larry Hughes, and Jerry Stackhouse. So Simons's little dedication was surely appreciated by Slam Dunk Contest fanatics.

For all his efforts, Simon won the 2021 Slam Dunk Contest. It's still up for debate on the official judge known as NBA Twitter. But that McGrady dunk he unleashed may have been his best dunk of the night.
