The NBA and ESPN are reportedly working on setting up a H-O-R-S-E competition since there are no sports on right now and the idea could generate some buzz.

Discussions have been ongoing among the NBA, NBPA and ESPN about a competition among several players in isolation — presumably using home gyms — that would include them competing shot for shot in the traditional playground game which is so popular among the basketball community, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, Donovan Mitchell and Zion Williamson could participate in the H-O-R-S-E competition, per Andrew Marchand of the New York Post. While those are some of the most exciting players in the game, there are other matchups that could be more intriguing.

Stephen Curry vs. Damian Lillard

Curry and Lillard can both shoot the ball from anywhere. Both superstars casually knock down shots from almost half court during live games, so we can only imagine how much fun these two point guards would have in a game of H-O-R-S-E.

Curry has established himself as the best shooter in NBA history, but Lillard has been hitting these LONG 3-pointers with so much ease and regularity these past two seasons that it's hard to pick a favorite if these two sharpshooters matched up.

Devin Booker vs. Bradley Beal

Two of the best shooting guards in the NBA, Beal and Booker have smooth, effortless jump shots. It's a shock to opposing defenses when Booker and Beal miss shots because their forms are basically perfect.

Like Curry and Lillard, Booker and Beal can also shoot from deep, but we can see the two guards also trying some trick shots from behind the basket if they matched up in H-O-R-S-E.

Kyrie Irving vs. Derrick Rose

Rose and Irving are two of the best finishers at the basket in NBA history. Their layup packages are just ridiculous.

Even though most H-O-R-S-E games consist of jump shots, it would be neat to watch Rose and Irving have a fancy, acrobatic layup battle consisting of only difficult shots. We could see both NBA stars mix it up by trying between-the-legs layups with possible reverses thrown in there.

Kawhi Leonard vs. Chris Paul

This matchup would be a little strange since Paul and Leonard play different positions. However, there's one thing that Paul and Kawhi have in common: they are both elite mid-range shooters.

CP3 and Leonard could sort of incorporate the game “Around the World” into their H-O-R-S-E matchup by going around the court and hitting every shot from every spot on the court, starting with the mid-range area.

In the era of 3s and layup, it would be cool to see the old mid-range come into play again.
