After a ton of hype, NBA Top Shot has officially unveiled the much-awaited Rookie Badges and everyone in the Top Shot universe is going nuts. It was announced by Top Shot on Wednesday that these Badges will be retroactively applied to all eligible Moments on or before March 31 which, obviously, has the price of these Moments going through the roof.

As it was initially discussed earlier this year, select Moments currently in circulation will be eligible for up to at least three badges. Now that it's official and collectors finally got a glimpse of how these Badges will actually look, everyone is obviously buzzing and the market is definitely soaring once again.

ICYMI, here's how the Badges will work:

  • Rookie Year Badge – A Moment will receive a badge when the Moment is from a player's rookie season.
  • Rookie Mint Badge – A Moment will receive a badge if it was minted in the player's rookie season.
  • Rookie Premiere Badge – A Moment will receive a badge if it was a play from the rookie's first-ever game in the NBA.
  • Top Shot Debut – A Moment will receive a badge if it's the player's first Moment in the Top Shot platform

In terms of actual Moments, this just means that this Tyrese Haliburton Moment will get all the said badges since it was a play from his first-ever game in the NBA. The same goes for this LaMelo Ball Moment and this Anthony Edwards Moment. All three of which have spiked in terms of values right after NBA Top Shot made the announcement.

This also applies to all Series 1 Moments from rookies and other players who have Moments eligible for the aforementioned badges. If you're a collector lucky enough to be sitting on these badge-eligible Moments then it's safe to say that your portfolio will be having a solid bump in the coming days.
