The Atlanta Hawks have expressed trade interest in San Antonio Spurs center Jakob Poeltl, according to Michael Scotto of Bleacher Report.

The Hawks have tried to upgrade the center position this season. They have also been linked with Detroit Pistons All-Star Andre Drummond, Oklahoma City Thunder center Steven Adams and Sacramento Kings veteran Dewayne Dedmon, who has requested a trade:

Atlanta was interested in reacquiring Dedmon in a potential salary dump for Sacramento after he publicly demanded a trade from the Kings after being benched. The Hawks also expressed trade interest in Spurs center Jakob Poeltl earlier this season, Bleacher Report has learned.

The Hawks have the second-worst record in the NBA at 9-32. Only the Golden State Warriors (9-33) have a worse record than Atlanta.

Jakob Poeltl is in his second season with the Spurs. He was part of the blockbuster Kawhi Leonard trade. Poeltl is averaging 5.2 points and 5.7 rebounds in 38 games this season while shooting 60.1 percent from the field and 52.2 percent from the free throw line.

Drummond is the best center the Hawks can trade for, but odds are the Pistons are going to want a significant return for him. Plus, Drummond can become an unrestricted free agent next summer if he declines his 2020-21 player option. The leaves the possibility that the Hawks could trade for a rental player.

The NBA trade deadline is on Feb. 6. We'll see what the Hawks end up doing.
