The Miami Heat are reportedly telling teams that rookie guard Tyler Herro is off limits in trade talks, according to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated.

Herro has been one of the best rookies thus far this season and been sensational for the Heat, who are clear title contenders with All-Stars Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo leading the charge:

Miami has told teams that Tyler Herro is off limits, at least for now. The Heat hit big with the Herro/Duncan Robinson/Kendrick Nunn pickups, and Miami isn’t interested in any contracts that stretch beyond 2021 … when Giannis Antetokounmpo could be a free agent, and Pat Riley will have another chance to lure a transformational star to South Beach. Danillo Gallinari fits that mold, and Gallo’s three-point shooting would be a welcome addition to Miami’s frontcourt.

So, too, would LaMarcus Aldridge, but the Spurs are something of a mystery. They rarely make midseason trades but there is some league-wide thinking that both Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan could be available. Aldridge, who has emerged as a reliable three-point shooter this season, is probably more valuable, and an Aldridge-Bam Adebayo front line would be fun to watch.

Herro has appeared in 46 games for the Heat this season. He's averaging 13.1 points, 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 41.4 percent from the field, 39.3 percent from beyond the arc and 83.5 percent from the free-throw line.

After defeating the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday behind 38 points from Butler, the Heat improved to 34-15 on the season. They are tied with the Boston Celtics for third place in the Eastern Conference standings.

The Heat have a player appearing in every event during All-Star weekend in Chicago. Butler and Adebayo will play in the All-Star Game, Adebayo will participate in the skills challenge, Duncan Robinson will be in the 3-Point Contest, Herro and Kendrick Nunn will compete in the rising stars challenge and Derrick Jones Jr. will be in the slam-dunk contest.
