Both the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers want to acquire New York Knicks forward Marcus Morris.

According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, the Lakers and Clippers are in an arms race for the swingman:

Morris is now available after the Knicks fired president Steve Mills on Tuesday. New York is reportedly looking for a first-round pick for the forward.

In 43 games this season for the Knicks, Morris is averaging 19.6 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.4 assists. He’s shooting 44.2 percent from the field, 43.9 percent from beyond the arc and 82.3 percent from the free-throw line.

Morris signed a one-year, $15 million deal with the Knicks this past offseason. He originally agreed to sign with the San Antonio Spurs, but backed out of his deal. The 30-year-old also parted ways with Rich Paul of Klutch Sports.

Morris enjoys living within a short distance of family in Philadelphia. He has said a few times this season he doesn't want the Knicks to trade him. However, with Mills gone, it appears Morris' time in New York is coming to an end soon, which is ultimately good for the veteran's basketball career since the Knicks won't make the playoffs this season and are a long way from competing for a title.

Both the Lakers and Clippers are title contenders. Morris almost signed with the Clippers in free agency. We’ll see what the Knicks, who have had trade talks with the Charlotte Hornets regarding Julius Randle and a few other players, end up doing with the Philadelphia native.
